Premier League Team of the Week

Jamie Vardy

GOALKEEPER – Vito Mannone (Sunderland)

The Clarets attempted six shots on target in this game; twice as many as they have in any of their other PL matches this season but they could still not get past Vito Mannone.

DEFENDER – Calum Chambers (Arsenal)

Calum Chambers made all three of his attempted tackles, and won all four aerial duels, the most of any Arsenal defender.

DEFENDER – Per Mertesacker (Arsenal)

Arsenal made more passes (814) than in any Premier League game since April 2012 (828 v Wolves). Per Mertesacker completed 109 of 110 attempted passes.

DEFENDER – Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)

Koscielny made the most clearances and interceptions of any Arsenal player. He also completed 97 of 104 attempted passes.

DEFENDER - Leighton Baines (Everton)

Leighton Baines has scored all 14 of his PL penalties – the player with the next most without missing is Dimitar Berbatov with nine.

MIDFIELDER – James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion)

James Morrison created four chances, more than any other player on the pitch. He also had more shots on target than the entire Tottenham team with two.

MIDFIELDER - Ander Herrera (Manchester United)

For the first time in their 853-game PL history, Man Utd have thrown away a two goal lead to lose. That hasn’t stopped Ander Herrera making the EPL team of the week for the second week in a row.

MIDFIELDER – Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

Mesut Özil scored and assisted a goal in the space of one minute & 20 seconds for Arsenal v Aston Villa. This is only the second occasion that Özil has scored and assisted in the same Premier League game.

MIDFIELDER – Niko Kranjcar (QPR)

Niko Kranjcar scored his first Premier League goal since February 2012. He has now scored three Premier League goals against Stoke City; making them his favourite opponents in the competition.

STRIKER – Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Two years ago Jamie Vardy was playing non-league football for Fleetwood Town. Yesterday he made his first Premier League start, scoring a goal, securing an assist and winning two penalties.

STRIKER – Leonardo Ulloa (Leicester City)

Three of Leonardo Ulloa's five Premier League goals this season have come within two minutes of the opposition scoring.
