PSV Eindhoven remain top of the Eredivisie after a stunning 10-0 thumping of Feyenoord on Sunday.

Feyenoord, one of the 'big three' clubs in Dutch football, finished fourth last term but have struggled this season and currently sit 16th after the morale-shattering defeat.

Defender Kelvin Leerdam was sent off after 34 minutes for a second yellow for the visitors, but it was their only red card, as PSV simply produced a masterclass.

Jonathan Reis and Ibrahim Afellay netted first-half strikes after 24 and 39 minutes respectively but it was in the second half where the damage was done.

Reis added to his account two minutes after the break before Ola Toivonen scored his first after 49 minutes.

In the next 20 minutes, Jeremain Lens, Balazs Dzsudzsak and Orlando Engelaar all added their names to the scoresheet while Reis claimed the match ball with a hat-trick.

The goals kept coming as late strikes from Dzsudzsak and Lens capped off a remarkable victory.

FC Twente kept the pressure on PSV with a 3-2 home win over ADO Den Haag.

Theo Janssen opened the scores for the hosts but strikes from Dmitri Bulykin and Frantisek Kubik meant an upset was on the cards.

But Bryan Ruiz and Marc Janko restored parity for FC Twente and wrapped up another victory as the margin between them and PSV remained at two points.

Ajax needed an 89th-minute equaliser from Jan Vertonghen to leave Rotterdam with a point as they drew 2-2 with Excelsior while AZ Alkmaar condemned Willem II to another defeat, cruising to a 3-0 victory.

FC Utrecht thrashed Vitesse Arnhem 4-1 in the late game at Gelredome as Slobodan Rajkovic (own goal), Dries Mertens, Tim Cornelisse and Jacob Mulenga got on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Marcus Pedersen scored a consolation goal for Vitesse on 61 minutes.
