An 11th-second goal from Christie Elliott has helped Partick Thistle thrash club Culter in the third round of Scottish Cup action on Saturday.

Initially held to an embarrassing 1-1 draw by Culter, a team that plays in the North Super League Junior competition, the first time these sides met in the Cup, Partick Thistle banished hose memories with a 4-0 rout over their outclassed opponents this time around.

Fans taking their seats barely had time to draw breath as Christie nailed the opening goal just 11 seconds into the encounter following a neat header from Thomas Stewart.

And, matters just became worse for Culter as Paul Cairney bagged a first-half brace before Chris Erskine added some polish just after half-time to somewhat banish the humiliation of their first-up draw.

Forfar Athletic, meanwhile, produced a thrilling second-half performance as they overcame Stranraer 3-0 to set up a fourth-round encounter with Aberdeen.

Greg Ross fired his side ahead in the 66th minute before Chris Templeman scored from close range and Graham Gibson bundled in an 87th-minute goal.

And lastly, a double from Craig Smith has helped Queens Park battle their way past fellow third-division side Elgin in a 3-1 result.

David Murray opened the scoring for Queens Park in the 10th minute through a neat little volley before Smith doubled the advantage before half-time.

Elgin looked in all sorts of trouble when goalkeeper Alexander Clark was dismissed just after the hour, but the 10-man side upped the ante by pulling one back through Craig Gunn.

But Smith ended Elgin's hopes when he drilled the ball in with four minutes remaining, seeing Queens Park progress to the next round.
