The Olyroos have bounced back from their loss to Korea DPR on Monday night with a confidence boosting 2-0 victory over Vietnam in the second match of the Four Nations International Tournament in Hanoi.

Originally scheduled to play the Kuwait U-23 team a late fixture change saw the Olyroos line up against the host nation in front of a vocal home ground.

Australia dominated the early exchanges and took a deserved lead in 19th minute when Tahj Minniecon and Mitch Nichols combined to set up Jason Hoffman, who calmly slotted past Vietnamese goalkeeper Duong Hong Son.

The Olyroos doubled their lead 10 minutes before half-time when Minniecon showed a cool head in front of goal after Nichols picked him out with a nice pass.

Vietnam lifted in the second half and created a number of good scoring chances but couldn't land the killer blow as Australia held on for victory.

Coach Aurelio Vidmar was delighted with the team's performance.

"In Monday's match we didn't capitalise on the chances we created. Tonight we again created plenty of chances and in the first half we put away two very good goals," said Vidmar.

"We played very well against a quality opponent and were rewarded for dominating the game."

"The players took on board the work they needed to do in the front third and executed the plan really well."

"I was extremely happy with the work rate of the players at the front and the back."

In the other match, Korea DPR defeated Kuwait 1-0 to take top spot with six points, while the Olyroos and Vietnam are locked on three points and Kuwait are bottom on zero.

Australia's final match of the tournament is on Friday night against Kuwait.
