N'Jie extends Lyon stay

The 21-year-old has broken into the first team at the Stade Gerland this season as Lyon look for a replacement for the departed Bafetimbi Gomis, who joined Swansea City in the close-season.

N'Jie has featured in all six Ligue 1 matches for Herbert Fournier's side this season, starting twice, but his first league goal still eludes him.

He has struck his first professional goal, though, as his 89th-minute effort secured a 2-1 victory over Mlada Boleslav in the UEFA Europa League last month.

N'Jie, who's previous deal was until 2016, was delighted to have extended his stay with the club and he now hopes to bring them success.

"This is the beginning of the adventure," he told Lyon's official website. "I'm happy.

"Now we have to continue working.

"I want to play and score. And I hope we will be [in the] European [places] at the end of this season.

"I'm proud of myself. This extension is a good thing for me. It shows that the team has confidence in me."

The youngster's performances for Lyon have also caught the eye of Cameroon coach Volker Finke who handed him his international debut earlier this month.

His faith in N'Jie was rewarded as he netted three times in two matches against the Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
