Rodgers fielded a range of questions from media in the lead-up to this weekend’s Divisional Play-off match against the Dallas Cowboys, including several inquiries about his various touchdown celebrations.

One move, a jumping fist-pump, has widely been attributed to the Super Mario brothers video game, but Rodgers cleared the air.

“It’s from an enjoyment of playing the FIFA soccer game on Xbox,” he explained.

“There used to be – I’m not sure if it’s still there now – but there’s an occasional celebration that resembles that.”

When asked who he plays as, Rodgers replied:

“On the game, I usually use Australia actually, the Socceroos.”

Notorious at the Packers for his out-there sense of humour, Rodgers wore a wry smile while responding to the question, so make of his answer what you will.

Rodgers is expected to play this weekend despite a calf injury and the Packers are heavy favourites to beat the Cowboys at Lambeau Field.

The Socceroos kick-off their Asian Cup campaign against Kuwait at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Friday night.
