Micronesia cop another world record thrashing

Micronesia

The Micronesians made worldwide headlines when they were on the wrong side of a then world-record 38-0 scoreline against Fiji, but things only got worse on Tuesday.

After trailing 24-0 at halftime in their Pacific Games match in Port Moresby, Vanuatu scored another 22 in the second half for the final 46-0 demolition.

It brings the total number goals Micronesia have conceded in their last three games to 114 with an earlier 30-0 loss to Tahiti.

Today's result won't officially be recognised by FIFA because Micronesia are not ranked by soccer's governing body.

Australia still has the highest official score with a 31-0 win over American Samoa in 2002.
