Lazio consolidated top spot on the Serie A table with a 2-1 win over Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Forward Sergio Floccari opened the scoring for the league leaders in the 22nd minute, before midfielder Stefano Mauri doubled their advantage eight minutes into the second half.

Alessandro Matri pulled a goal back for the visitors but it was not enough to take a point.

Cagliari remain in the relegation zone on seven points.

Udinese held off Palermo 2-1 in their clash at the Stadio Communale Friuli.

Mehdi Benatia and Antonio Di Natale had the hosts up 2-0 inside 54 minutes, although a late goal from Mauricio Pinilla gave Palermo a late chance to square the ledger.
