Lazio continued their impressive start to the Serie A season with a 1-0 win over Brescia, while Palermo and Napoli were also winners on Sunday.

Midfielder Stefano Mauri scored on the stroke of half-time in Lazio's match against Brescia at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, and any hopes the visitors had of forging a comeback were snuffed out when Alessandro Diamanti was sent off in the 73rd minute after picking up his second yellow card.

The win was Lazio's fourth of the season and ensures they remain at the summit of the Serie A table, while Brescia slip back to sixth.

Two first-half goals gave Palermo a 2-1 win on the road against Fiorentina.

Josip Ilicic opened the scoring for the visitors after 20 minutes and Javier Pastore doubled their advantage five minutes before half-time.

Italy international Alberto Gilardino pulled one back for Fiorentina on 58 minutes, but Riccardo Montolivo's straight red card with 12 minutes remaining ended the home side's challenge.

Napoli continued Roma's woes this season with a 2-0 victory at the Stadio San Paolo.

Marek Hamsik struck in the 72 minute to give the home side the lead, before Nicolas Burdisso put the ball into his own net seven minutes from time to leave Roma languishing in 19th spot on the table.

A late goal from Luca Toni gave 10-man Genoa a 2-1 win at home against Bari.

Rodrigo Palacio had given the hosts the lead just after the half-hour mark, but Paulo Vito Barreto equalised from the penalty spot for Bari after Emiliano Moretti received a straight red card.

But despite being a man down, Toni bobbed up in the fifth minute of injury time to head home his first goal Genoa and hand his new club the three points.

Lecce won their second match of the season thanks to a 1-0 victory over Catania, with Daniele Corvia scoring the winner in the 37th minute.

A second-half goal from Miguel Britos cancelled out Daniele Portanova's own goal and gave Bologna a 1-1 at home with Sampdoria, while Chievo and Cagliari played out a 0-0 draw.
