La’el Collins to meet with homicide detectives, take paternity test

La'el Collins

Former LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins will meet with homicide detectives Monday in Baton Rouge in connection with the murder of a woman believed to be his former girlfriend.

The Advocate reported Collins will take a paternity test, even though police have said he’s not a suspect in the shooting death of Brittney Mills and her infant baby, who died a week after being delivered following his mother’s death.

Collins, projected to be a first-round draft pick, was not selected over the weekend and is ineligible for the 2016 draft.

According to Pro Football Talk, Collins plans to sign with a team as a free agent after he is cleared.

Police told the Advocate that Collins is one of many people who will be interviewed.

The report said a private investigation company has been hired to prove Collins was out of town at the time of the shooting, according to Collins’ attorney.
