The Ivory Coast snatched a 2-1 win over Togo thanks to Gervinho's 88th-minute goal at the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday.

Ivory Coast took the lead in the eighth minute when Gervinho beat two defenders from the right flank and managed to lay the ball off to Yaya Toure, who struck through a forest to put his side 1-0 ahead at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

But Togo levelled things up in first-half injury time when Jonathan Ayite bundled home a free-kick past the sprawling Copa Barry to ensure the teams were locked at 1-1 going into the break 1-1.

As the match wore on it looked as if Togo would hold out for a valuable draw, only for Arsenal man Gervinho to score from a tight angle with two minutes to go in normal time.

Meanwhile, Tunisia grabbed a last-gasp 1-0 win over Algeria in the other Group D encounter on Tuesday.

Scores were locked at 0-0 until the dying moments of a dull North African derby in Rustenburg, until a brilliant stoppage-time strike from Youssef Msakni sealed three points for Tunisia, moving them level with the Ivory Coast on three points on top of the group.
