Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be in hot water after the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) revealed is is to investigate his foul-mouthed rant following Paris Saint-Germain's defeat at Bordeaux on Sunday.

The Sweden striker hit the headlines once again when he was caught on camera cursing the performance of referee Lionel Jaffredo in PSG's 3-2 Ligue 1 loss, which dealt a blow to the champions' hopes of retaining their title.

Ibrahimovic appeared to say: "[I've] played 15 years I've never seen a referee this s*** country. Don't even deserve PSG to be in this country. F****** too good for all of you."

The former Barcelona and Inter man subsequently issued an apology, stating that his words "were directed neither towards France nor towards the French", but he could face punishment as his outburst will be discussed at a disciplinary hearing on Thursday.

Governing body LFP said in a statement on Monday: "In response to the report from the officials, the LFP Disciplinary Commission will investigate during its session on Thursday, March 19th the comments made by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the end of the game Girondins de Bordeaux/Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Matchday 29)."

Ibrahimovic, who scored both PSG goals against Bordeaux, last week said Chelsea players acted "like a lot of babies" after surrounding the referee before he was sent off in his side's 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw at Stamford Bridge.
