One of Glory’s best performers this season and a huge part of their rise to the top of the Hyundai A-League, Griffiths contract with Glory ends at the end of the current campaign.
While he hasn’t ruled out re-signing with the club, the tall defensive midfielder outlined his desire to play abroad again.
“I’ve been speaking with the club and keeping dialogue going,” Griffiths told the West Australian.
“I’ve had a few offers in Asia and places like that. I’m just sort of really weighing up what I want to do.
“I’m coming to that sort of time in my career where I’m turning 27. I think it [the decision] is really imperative.
“What I decide next is going to pretty much define where I’m going to go for the rest of my career.”
Griffiths spent two years at then-EPL club Blackburn Rovers between 2006-’08, but failed to crack the first team.
He also had a stint in China with Guangzhou R & F between 2012-’14 before joining Glory, his fourth Hyundai A-League club having also played with Central Coast Mariners, Adelaide United and North Queensland Fury in the past.
“I’ve been taking my time … it’d have to be really right [to go] in the sense that it’s not just about money, it’s really about a footballing decision,” Griffiths said.
“In terms of the A-League, I’ve got no interest in swapping clubs. I’m really happy here. But before I hang my boots up again I’d really like to play overseas.”
Glory's main focus at the moment though is the top-of-the-table clash with Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
It’s a huge match for the club but holds extra significance with Glory keeper Danny Vukovic set to equal the Hyundai A-League appearance record.
Vukovic will make his 221st appearance in the competition, equaling the mark set by Matt Thompson. He will get the chance to break the mark against Wellington the following week.
