Gattuso faces serious charges

AC Milan captain Gennaro Gattuso has been charged with 'gross unsporting conduct' after his side's Champions League loss to Tottenham.

Television pictures showed Gattuso head-butting Tottenham coach Joe Jordan in the aftermath of the 1-0 reverse at the San Siro.

The clash followed a bad-tempered first leg on Tuesday, during which Gattuso was booked.

That caution will keep him out of the return leg at White Hart Lane, but he could face an additional lengthy suspension if found guilty by UEFA.

Players can be banned for a minimum of three matches under UEFA rules if they are shown to have assaulted opposition players or management.

Gattuso apologised for his behaviour on Wednesday, but it may not be enough to save him.

UEFA are expected to make a decision on Gattuso's fate on Monday.
