Celtic brushed aside mid-table St Mirren 5-0 at Greenhill Road to stay top of the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.

Goals from Gary Hooper, Efe Ambrose, Tony Watt and a double from Victor Wanyama saw the Hoops claim all three points ahead of their daunting trip to Spain on Tuesday to face Barcelona in the Champions League.

Celtic raced into a first-half lead thanks to Hooper, Ambrose and Wanyama before Watt added a fifth after the break.

Celtic are three points clear on top of the table with a game in hand on second-placed St Johnstone, who won 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock.

It was the Saints' first streak of five wins in the league since 1971 with Murray Davidson's scrambled opener and Nigel Hasselbaink's late strike rendering James Fowler's stoppage-time goal inconsequential.

Colin McMenamin netted the winner for Ross County in a 3-2 result at Victoria Park against Hibernian.

James McPake restored parity for Hibernian just before half-time but it took until the 83rd minute for substitute McMenamin to score the fifth and decisive goal.

Second-bottom Dundee scored for the first time since late August through John Rankin but succumbed to Aberdeen in a 1-1 draw after Niall McGinn's 53rd-minute equaliser.
