Frank Farina is set to be rewarded for resurrecting Sydney FC's season, with the club to reappoint the former Socceroos coach on a full-time basis.

The Sky Blues have scheduled a press conference for 3pm on Thursday where Farina's reappointment will be announced, believed to be on a two-year deal.

Farina has done a superb job in turning Sydney's season around since taking over the reins from Ian Crook in December.

Sydney were languishing on the foot of the A-League ladder with just two wins from their opening eight games when Farina was appointed to try and save the club's spluttering campaign.

Since the 48-year-old has been at the helm, the Sky Blues have amassed five wins and three draws from their past 12 games to move into the top six and are a strong chance to play finals football.

Farina's appointment is also expected to help get the re-signing of marquee man Alessandro Del Piero over the line, with the Italian impressed with the way he has transformed the Sky Blues.

The Sydney job will be Farina's first permanent A-League coaching deal since he was sacked as Brisbane Roar boss over a drink-driving incident in 2009.
