Del Neri writes off Juve Scudetto

Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri has ruled his side out of contention for the Serie A title after a 0-0 draw with Bologna on Sunday.

The Turin giants left Bologna's Stadio Renato Dall'Ara with a share of the spoils, but fell further behind early pace setters Lazio, who defeated Cagilari at home.

Former Chievo and Sampdoria coach Del Neri does not consider his team to be title contenders, and preferred to focus on the positives of a point secured away from home.

"We are certainly a fair way off Lazio, who had a great start, but we aren't so far away from the other teams," Del Neri said.

"Juve are not expected to win the Scudetto. Before people complained that we conceded too many goals, now they complain we don't score them."

"I am very satisfied with the team, as we kept a clean sheet and at the same time created important scoring opportunities."

Juventus missed a chance to break the deadlock when Vincenzo Iaquinta saw his spot kick saved by Emiliano Viviano. Many thought Milos Krasic dived to win the penalty, but the Serbian playmaker was defended by his coach.

"Krasic is hammered throughout every game," Del Neri said.

"I don't know if there was a foul or not, but certainly he is not the type of lad to do this on purpose."

"I do not expect a ban for him. (But) do Juve depend on the performances of Krasic? Absolutely not."

Bologna boss Alberto Malesani had a rather different view of the game's most contentious incident.

"It's a shame, as looking at his face and the way he plays, Krasic seems like a nice guy," Malesani said.

"Perhaps he should've told the referee it wasn't a penalty and brought the justice on to himself, but thankfully Viviano saved it."
