He may be 35, he may be past his prime and he is no longer among the world's best players but Ronaldinho would be a huge signing for the fledgling A-League.

The Brazilian World Cup winner severed his contract with Mexican club Queretaro and is now a free agent, with clubs all over the world scrambling the cash together to make an offer.

Ronaldinho's single season in the Liga MX resulted in eight goals in 25 appearances - a return that would be excellent in the A-League, arguably a slightly lower standard than Mexico's first division.

This video below shows the amazing skills, tricks and goals the Ballon D'or winner performed in his Mexican stint - in addition to the extraordinary drawing power his brand represents.

Clubs such as Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers currently have their marquee spot available and must put an offer to Ronaldinho's representatives.

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold ruled out a move for Juventus legend Andrea Pirlo because he was a midfielder and not an attacking star.

Well look no further: Ronaldinho fits the bill as the perfect marquee signing.

Hopefully we will be seeing Ronaldinho in an A-League shirt come the start of the 2015-2016 season.
