Borussia Dortmund lead the Bundesliga after a last-gasp 2-1 win away to FC Cologne in a red-hot atmosphere on Friday.

Jakub Blazczykowsk put visiting Dortmund ahead in the 20th minute after a strong start at a raucous RheinEnergie Stadion.

Adam Matuschyk missed a second-half chance to equalise for Cologne, with Armando Petit also going close from a free kick.

Cologne's second-half pressure eventually told and when Lukas Podolski unleashed an unstoppable left-foot drive into the Dortmund goal with eight minutes to go, tempers began to flare on and off the pitch.

Just as Cologne seemed set to take a point from the game, Nuri Sahin forced home a late winner that ensures Dortmund will top the table, at least until Saturday, when Mainz put their 100 percent start on the line at home to Hamburg.
