Marco di Vaio struck a last-minute winner as Bologna stole a thrilling 2-1 victory over Chievo in the Serie A on Wednesday.

Miguel Britos gave Bologna the lead five minutes before half-time at the Stadio Renata Dell'Ara, pouncing on a loose ball in the area after Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino failed to deal with a dipping free kick.

But Botjan Cesar had Chievo level just five minutes after the break, holding off a defender before stooping to head home from a corner.

The match looked to be petering out to a draw until di Vaio intervened in the third minute of second-half injury time.

The Bologna captain started and finished the match-winning move, pulling off a slick one-two pass with Vagelis Moras to create space in the box before beating Sorrentino to send the home fans into raptures.

The win moves Bologna to 13th on the Serie A table, one point behind 10th placed Chievo.
