Vidosic struck in the 24th minute of the match with league-leaders FC Zurich to draw scores level, before Sion were overrun in the second half to lose 4-1.

But the former Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar attacker showed he was edging back to his best with a superb performance.

Vidosic, who has struggled with injury so far this season, produced a smart finish for his goal although there was a hint of offside about it.

The 27-year-old ran onto a lofted through-ball, controlling on his chest before coolly slotting it past goal-keeper David da Costa.

After being overlooked for the recent friendlies against Belgium and Saudi Arabia, Vidosic will be hoping this goal will catapult him back to his best form and a return to Socceroos calculations for January’s Asian Cup.

Elsewhere, Mat Ryan got through 90 minutes as his Club Brugge side were held to a 1-1 draw away to Racing Genk.

Ryan was beaten just before half-time before his side equalized almost immediately but despite dominating the second half they couldn’t get the winner to remain in sixth spot after seven matches.

Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak nearly cost his team the game against Burney after conceding a penalty in the 85th minute.

But goalkeeper Julian Speroni made a terrific save from Scott Arfield's spotkick as Palace held on to a 0-0 result.

In-form Tommy Oar couldn’t come up with another assist for FC Utrecht as they were held to a goalless draw at home to ADO Den Haag.

In Italy, Josh Brillante was an unused substitute as Fiorentina also drew 0-0 at home to Genoa while Ivan Franjic will have to wait a little longer for his Torpedo Moscow debut, also an unused sub in their 3-1 defeat to Spartak Moscow.
