Aberdeen lose at home

Aberdeen's early-season woes continued with a 2-1 loss at home to Inverness in Tuesday's lone Scottish Premier League fixture.

Mark McGhee's side showed no signs of arresting their slide down the SPL table, going down at Pittodrie Stadium just three days after a humiliating 9-0 thumping at Celtic.

But it was joy for Terry Butcher's men, who improved to fourth on the table after Grant Munro nodded in an 81st-minute winner for the visitors.

Adam Rooney put Inverness ahead on 34 minutes, converting from the penalty spot after Munro was fouled inside the area in an off-the-ball incident.

On-loan Rangers striker Andrius Velicka equalised for Aberdeen four minutes after the break, putting a low ball past advancing Inverness goalkeeper Ryan Esson.

But Inverness held sway for much of the second half and grabbed a winner nine minutes from injury time through Munro, who headed past a diving Jamie Langfield from Richie Foran's cross.

It was yet another disappointment for the Aberdeen faithful, and could spell the end of McGhee's tenure at the club amidst reports the 53-year-old is on the verge of losing his job.

The embattled club have secured just four points from their last 10 fixtures, with matches at Rangers and against Celtic in the next month to make McGhee's job all the more difficult.
