Walcott to extend stay?

Reports: Walcott set to pen new Arsenal deal

02/06/2012 10:04:35 AM

Theo Walcott is believed to be close to signing a new contract that will prolong his stay at Arsenal.

The fleet-footed striker came through the ranks at Southampton before the Gunners snapped him up in 2006 for a fee thought to be in the region of five million pounds, potentially rising to 12 million pounds depending on appearances for club and country.

The 22-year-old has since made over 200 appearances for the Gunners, while at international level playing for the England Under-19 and U-21 sides as well as the senior national team.

Now, with his contract set to expire at the end of next season, The Sunday Mirror reports that the forward turned winger is close to putting pen to paper on a new deal.

It is thought that Walcott's current offer from Arsenal is for four more years, with his wages coming close to the 80,000-pounds-a-week mark.
