Tottenham will get their first taste of Champions League football when they take on Swiss side Young Boys in the play-offs.

The draw was completed at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday with teams to battle it out over two legs on August 17-18 and August 24-25 for a place in the lucrative group stage.

It's the first time Spurs have featured in the top European competition and Harry Redknapp's side will travel to Bern for the first leg against the Swiss Super League runners-up.

Ajax face a tough road to the group stage after being drawn against Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev, although the Dutch team will have the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

German side Werder Bremen will also face a tough assignment when they host Italians Sampdoria in the first leg.

The 2008 UEFA Cup winners Zenit St Petersburg will be hoping to make the group stage for the second season in a row when they clash with French side Auxerre, while Portugal's SC Braga and Spaniards Sevilla will fight out an Iberian derby.

Rosenborg and FC Copenhagen will do battle in an all-Scandinavian affair, while Moldovan minnows FC Sheriff Tiraspol travel to Switzerland to take on Basel.

Israeli side Haifa Tel Aviv will travel to Austria to play Red Bull Salzburg, Czech's Sparta Prague tackle MSK Zilina from neighbouring Slovakia and Partizan Belgrade host Belgian side Anderlecht.

Meanwhile, English Premier League giants Liverpool will take on Turkish side Trabzonspor while Juventus will meet Sturm Graz in the Europa League playoffs.

The playoff draw was completed at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland earlier on Friday with teams to battle it out of two legs on August 19 and August 26 for a place in the group stage.

The Reds will host Trabzonspor in the first leg at Anfield and will be confident of victory having cruised through the third round against Macedonian outfit FC Rabotnicki.

The Bianconeri will be on the road for the first leg, travelling to Austria to take on die Schwoazn.

EPL side Aston Villa will also be making the trip to Austria, with Martin O'Neill's men drawn against Rapid Vienna.

Cashed up Manchester City will also be on the road, travelling to Romania to play FC Timisoara.

The Sky Blues missed out on playing in Europe last season and manager Roberto Mancini will be determined to put his new signings to good use.

After being humiliated by Portuguese side Braga in the Champions League playoff, Scottish giants Celtic will be looking for a much improved performance in their Europa play off against Dutch side FC Utrecht.

Michael Ballack and his new Bayer Leverkusen team-mates will host Ukrainian side Tavriya.

FC Porto will travel to Belgium first up to tackle Genk, while Turkish side Galatasaray will host Ukrainians FC Karpaty.

French side Paris Saint Germain will play Maccabi Tel Aviv at home in the first leg, while Dutch giants Feyenoord will host Belgian side Gent.
