Roar regain Reinaldo

09/03/2010 02:35:44 AM

Undefeated Brisbane Roar will welcome Reinaldo back into their starting side against Newcastle and coach Ange Postecoglou says the big Brazilian will give his side an added potency.

Limited by a hamstring injury through the early rounds of the A-League 2010/11 season, Reinaldo has watched on as the Roar have shot out of the gates with wins over Sydney and Wellington as well as a dominant performance in drawing with the Gold Coast

The sole concern for Postecoglou's men has been the inability to convert possession and chances into scoreboard advantage, and though they sit third on the ladder, their two goals tally is the second lowest of any side.

It's been 10 games since the Roar have scored more than once, but with Reinaldo set to be unleashed this weekend, and Costa Rican impressive import Jean Carlos Solarzano cleared to play, the coach says there is little need for concern.

"(Solorzano) moved really well at training this morning, he looks ready to go and he wants to get involved," said Postecoglou.

"I'll see how things pan out at tomorrow morning's session, but there's every likely hood that he'll be included."

"Reinaldo will play, he'll start, and he's going really well."

"We play an attacking style anyway, maybe it's gone a little bit unnoticed in the first three games we've played, but we've had Reinaldo missing, we've had Jean Carlo missing, and they're two of our main strikers."

"The fact that we've got them available now just gives us a little bit more potency up front."

Reinaldo looked to be moving freely in his 30-minutes against Wellington last Friday, and after training strongly through the week, says he is '100%' and feeling 'very, very good.'

20-year-old Kosta Barbarouses has worked hard and provided plenty of excitement for the Roar so far this season, but the return of Reinaldo provides a stronger aerial target, and player who can hold the ball up with back to net.

"Kosta's done a fantastic job as a 20 year old against the big bodies in there and he's led the line well," said Postecoglou.

"It hasn't exactly been makeshift, but we've really been tested."

"Now with Reinaldo, he's a bigger body, he's good in the air, he can hold the ball up for us, it just gives us more options."

Ivan Franjic will again be missing with a quad strain and young midfielder Luke Brattan has not recovered from illness. Everyone else is available and with strong competition for spots, Postecoglou will not finalise his team until after a final run on Friday.

Likely to make way for Reinaldo in the starting side is Mitch Nichols, who he replaced against Wellington, but the coach says Brisbane have plenty of options, and the final line-up is yet to be decided.

"We've got a couple of options, we can play Kosta out wide, we play Thomas (Broich) in the midfield."

"Mitch can certainly play one of the wide areas. We'll see," he said.
