Liam Miller says he has enjoyed the adjustment of going from playing with and against some of the biggest clubs in Europe to life in the Hyundai A-League and has no regrets about moving to Perth Glory.
The midfielder has been one of Perth's best players this season, helping Ian Ferguson's side climb into the top four with just six games left in the year in his first campaign with the Glory.
The Irishman had previously played for English clubs Manchester United and Leeds United, in addition to Celtic and Hibernian in Scotland.
Miller said he was pleased with how his move had gone after joining Perth when his contract with Hibs expired.
"The phone call came out of the blue and the gaffer sold the club to me. I was sort of blindsided coming here but I'm delighted I have come here," the 31-year-old said.
"I'm really enjoying my football."
"I wasn't too sure what to expect when I first came over but over time I've got used to it a lot better."
Miller credited Ferguson as a big part of the reason he's enjoyed his time with the Glory and said he'd love to see the manager have his contract with the club extended beyond this season.
"He's done great. Managers are judged on winning games and we've been great so far, but at the end of the day the players aren't going to get carried away," he said.
"We went through a sticky patch and he turned it around."
"I think that [Ferguson's contract] is one for the club to handle and I'm sure they will because the manager has done great. I suppose they'll do it when both parties are happy about it."
After enjoying an eight match unbeaten run, the Glory fell 2-1 in Sydney on Saturday in a performance which Miller admitted was disappointing.
But Miller, who represented Ireland 21 times, said there was a strong determination within the team to ensure that loss didn't spark a run similar to the streak earlier in the season where they won just one in 11 games.
"We didn't take our chances and we got punished [against Sydney]," he said.
"But we'll dust ourselves down and we've got a good chance to get ourselves back at home against Newcastle now."
