Kwasnik raring to go

02/02/2012 09:00:17 AM

Rejuvenated striker Adam Kwasnik will be out to continue his return to form when the Central Coast Mariners lock horns with Brisbane in the A-League at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford on Saturday night.

After a horror start to the season, Kwasnik is now well and truly back in the selection mix for the Mariners.

The veteran has netted crucial goals against the Melbourne Heart and Adelaide in recent weeks and is in line for a rare start against the Roar at Gosford.

Kwasnik returned from a short stint in China at the start of the season, but was far from his best during the early rounds of the A-League.

He was battling injury and lost his place in coach Graham Arnold's side.

Now, after a lot of hard work on the training paddock, he is back, in form and desperate to score goal number three for the campaign against the under-pressure Roar.

"I started the season and probably shouldn't have," Kwasnik said.

"When I got back from China I wasn't anywhere near 100 percent which wasn't ideal."

"Injury wise now I'm good so I just want to play as much as possible. I'm looking forward to Saturday night."

It was about this time last season when Kwasnik found his best form and Arnold is hoping for something similar in 2012.

"He's stepped up, I'm happy with his progress," Arnold said of Kwasnik.

The Mariners are 10 points clear at the top of the table and will be banking on another big crowd at Bluetongue in the grand final replay.
