Granada continued their surge away from the La Liga relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Malaga on Monday (local time).
After three losses in a row to start 2012, including a 5-1 hammering by Real Madrid, newly promoted Granada had sunk to the edge of the relegation zone.
But after beating Real Betis away from home last week, Granada claimed their second win on the trot with a hard-fought win over Malaga.
After a goalless first half at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for Granada 12 minutes into the second period.
Salomon Rondon got Malaga back on level footing 11 minutes later, but Inigo Lopez responded with a second for Granada nine minutes from time to seal the three points.
Any thoughts of a late Malaga fightback were dashed when Argentine defender Martin Demichelis received a straight red card in the 84th minute.
Granada are now 14th with 25 points, while Malaga are three points ahead of them in eighth.
