Catania, Roma finish off 1-1

Catania and Roma could not be separated after playing out the final 25 minutes of their 1-1 Serie A draw on Wednesday.

The match was abandoned after 65 minutes with the score at 1-1 on January 14 after heavy rain made the pitch at the Stadio Angelo Massimino unplayable, with Roma's Danielle De Rossi having cancelled out Nicola Legrottaglie's earlier goal.

But neither side was able to add to their goal tally when the match resumed on Wednesday, despite a free-flowing 25 minutes of football.

Luis Enrique's men nearly broke the deadlock moments after the restart as a deflection in Catania's 18-yard box found an unmarked Fabio Borini.

The striker did not get enough power and accuracy on his point-blank diving header and as a result, it floated wide.

Catania threatened when Christian Llama's frontal strike with the outside of his foot was brilliantly parried away by Maarten Stekelenburg.

Roma then charged forward and with a free-flowing attack and nearly found the back of goal as well.

Lighting quick one-touch passing between Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic found an open Aleandro Rosi in front of goal.

The midfielder struck a weak effort towards Tomas Kosicky and the goalkeeper was able to catch what should have been an automatic goal.
