Carragher praises Spurs

Carragher impressed by Spurs

02/05/2012 04:58:53 AM

Jamie Carragher says Tottenham are the team that has impressed him most this season, but is confident his Liverpool side can beat them on Monday.

Spurs humiliated the Merseyside club with a 4-0 thumping at White Hart Lane in September, and defeated Liverpool at Anfield late last season to crush any hopes of Champions League football.

But while Carragher, 34, has been impressed by Harry Redknapp’s team, he believes Liverpool can match any side on home turf, no matter how tough the opposition.

"Spurs have probably been the most impressive team in the league for me this season," the defender told Liverpool's official website.

"I know they aren't top but they're great to watch. They play great football, very fast paced and they certainly showed that against us at White Hart Lane."

"That was our biggest defeat of the season and something we want to rectify."

"The game changed a bit towards the end when we were down to nine men and the scoreline flattered them to a certain extent but they played really well that day. We didn't start well enough and they caught us out."

"They also won at Anfield towards the end of last season. That's probably in the mind as much as anything."

"We realise we're playing against one of the best teams in the league and it's going to be very difficult."

Luis Suarez could make his return in the Anfield clash having served his eight-match ban for racist conduct.

Given that Jamie Carragher is so technically inept, he would just about be impressed by any team in the world that plays football. It honestly defies logic how Liverpool fans could worship and idolise Carragher and acclaim him a living LEGEND. Of course, undeniably, Carragher is the best hoofer in the business. And who can ever forget that no other centre backs in the world have score more goals than Jamie Carragher... albeit all the goals scored were against his own team.
