Socceroo David Carney has joined Uzbek giants FC Bunyodkor on trial after terminating his contract in Spain.
The 28-year-old left back began his trial stint with the Uzbek side on Saturday, as reported on the club's official website.
Carney will try to win a contract after a disappointing six months at Spanish second-tier club Alcorcon, where he failed to find a regular spot in the team, making only a handful of first-team appearances.
The Australian, who can also play as a left winger, is well known among the Uzbek fans, having scored a goal against Uzbekistan in the 2011 Asian Cup semi-final.
The former Sydney FC player was linked to a move to China and the UAE by Spanish website AS following his release from Alcorcon, but was also said to be a target for A-League clubs.
Carney left home-town club Sydney FC in 2007, spending time at Sheffield United, FC Twente and Blackpool before moving to Spain.
