Brosque leaves camp

Socceroos striker Alex Brosque appears likely to miss his second national call-up in a row after being given permission to leave the Australian training two days ahead of the Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia.

Brosque was forced out of the clash with Kuwait in January after injuring his groin in training and the Sydney FC danger man looks unlikely to play on Wednesday night in Brisbane as he returns to New South Wales to be with partner Nadia, who is expecting the couple's first child.

"It is disappointing to leave camp but this is a very important occasion in life and I am sure everyone understands," Brosque said.

"I spoke to Pim (Australian coach Pim Verbeek) and a few of the boys and they agreed that it is something that can't be missed, especially as it is our first child."

Verbeek said Brosque had left the camp on the Gold Coast with his blessing.

"We were aware of the fact before the camp that there may be a possibility that Alex may have to leave to be with his partner," Verbeek said.

"It is a very important occasion for Alex and his family and it is natural he would want to be there for the birth."

Australia drew 0-0 with Indonesia the last time they clashed in the opening match of the Asian Cup qualifiers in Jakarta in January last year.

The Socceroos are currently placed in second position on the Group B points table behind Kuwait on the number of goals scored and will need a draw or a win against Indonesia to qualify for the Asian Cup which will be held in Qatar in January 2011.

In the other group B match, Oman will need a win if it hopes to qualify when it hosts Kuwait in Muscat on Wednesday night.
