Arsenal not good enough

Arteta: Arsenal not good enough

02/03/2012 12:45:19 PM

Arsenal's Mikel Arteta declared his side's form 'not good enough' after a 0-0 draw with Bolton left them five points off a Champions League spot.

Arsenal have endured a frustrating season and sit in seventh place in the English Premier League, a massive 17 points behind leaders Manchester City and Manchester United.

The point gained at the Reebok Stadium on Wednesday was Arsenal's first of 2012, and Arteta is fully aware the team have not been performing to their potential.

"We had a lot of chances to win the game at Bolton, but once again we've not been good enough to take them and if you don't take your chances it's always going to be difficult," Arteta said.

"It's not good enough. We really need to start picking up points now. We've lost too many in the last two weeks."

"We have the players and the quality to have a better result than what we have got against Bolton."

Support for manager Arsene Wenger has been diminishing recently and a statement issued by the Arsenal Supporters Trust has failed to back the Frenchman.

"There has been lots of debate about the position of Arsene Wenger recently and the AST is often asked to give media comment, which we decline," the statement read.

"Any discussion and opinions should be given at the end of the season when matters can be viewed with greater clarity."
