Bolton recorded their first win since the opening day of the season beating local rivals Wigan Athletic 3-1 at the DW Stadium.
An own goal from Gary Caldwell was cancelled out by a wonder strike from Mohamed Diame but it was David Ngog and Chris Eagles who earned them all three points.
The visitors attacked early and had the first chance in the second minute.
A free kick was taken quickly by Martin Petrov to Darren Pratley but his low shot was easily cleared.
Two minutes later Bolton took the lead thanks to a Caldwell own goal.
The visitors broke on the counter attack with Pratley who released Eagles down the right.
His low cross into the penalty area was met by Nigel Reo-Coker and Caldwell and the ball found into the net off the Wigan captain.
Wigan's first chance came in the 17th minute as a long ball from Caldwell went over the head of Gary Cahill to Franco Di Santo, the Argentine nodded the ball into the path of James McCarthy but he failed to connect with the volley and it flew wide of Jaaskelainen's goal.
Minutes later Bolton went close again, this time Ngog beat two defenders before finding Eagles but his low shot was excellently blocked by Caldwell.
Midway through the first half Bolton created another excellent chance on the counter attack.
Jaaskelainen threw the ball to Petrov on the left wing, the Bulgarian ran into the Wigan half and delivered a deep cross onto the chest of Davies at the back post but his left foot shot was easily saved by Ali Al-Habsi.
Wigan were much slower in their build-ups but that paid off with five minutes of the half to go as Diame struck a 25-yard wonder goal.
Ben Watson made a surging run from halfway before passing to Diame who curled his shot past Jaaskelainen.
Roberto Martinez would have hoped his side could have held on until half-time but a mistake by Gohouri in the final minute of the half gifted Bolton a second goal.
The defender was dispossessed by Davies on the Bolton right, he rolled the ball into Ngog who took on Caldwell and fired past Al Habsi for his first Wanderers goal.
The first chance of the second half fell to Wigan.
Victor Moses beat the offside trap and his first cross was well blocked by Wheater.
He found Rodallega with his second attempt but the Colombian's shot was held by Jaaskelainen.
Wigan were much improved in the second half but they were very lucky not to go further behind in a crazy three minutes starting in the 70th minute.
The first chance for Bolton fell to Boyata four yards from goal but he somehow headed wide from a Petrov free kick.
Moments later Eagles' weak shot was fumbled wide by Al Habsi and then in the 74th minute Davies missed a penalty.
Caldwell was punished for a push on Boyata but from the resulting spot kick Davies hit it straight at Al Habsi who saved easily to give his side hope.
Eagles sealed the win in the closing minutes beating two defenders before calmly rolling the ball past Al Habsi.
