Sydney FC's championship hangover has finally ended with the Sky Blues thumping the Glory 3-0 in Perth on Sunday night.
Powered by a brace from Bruno Cazarine, the Sky Blues opened up a one-goal lead at the break as the Brazilian striker nodded his side ahead in the 25th minute.
Although the Glory created numerous opportunities, their lack of finishing touch was brutally exposed by Sydney as Alex Brosque doubled the lead eight minutes after the break, with Cazarine coolly slotting a third eight minutes from time.
The win doesn't help Sydney move off the foot of the table, but it will instil some much-needed confidence in the New South Welshmen after their dismal opening to the campaign, while the loss is the sixth in a row for eighth-placed Perth Glory.
The Glory started well as striker Michael Baird threatened but a defensive lapse allowed Sydney to open their account, Cazarine climbing high over Todd Howarth to nod in the first goal from a Sung-Hwan Byun free kick.
Perth started the second half with greater intent as Baird appealed for a 47th-minute penalty before the Glory striker fired narrowly wide a minute later.
But Perth found themselves further behind when Sydney skipper Terry McFlynn desperately threw his body in to create a turnover, the ball falling to Shannon Cole, whose cross was tucked home by Brosque.
Glory stopper Aleks Vrteski kept Perth in the game as he denied Brosque on two occasions in the 70th minute, but Sydney eventually added their third when Cazarine stormed forward, beating Jamie Harnwell's tackle and sliding the ball home.
