Perth Glory have snapped their seven-game losing streak through a 0-0 draw that wasn't without drama at nib Stadium on Wednesday night.
On a very warm evening in Perth, a solid midweek crowd of 5745 saw the Glory's Mile Sterjovski blast his side's best chance over the bar from three metres out in the 69th minute.
And, Heart came within inches of making Perth pay as former Glory youth striker Eli Babalj nodded a header against the post during injury time before seeing a late strike on goal saved by Tando Velaphi.
The point for both sides doesn't alter their positions on the A-League table as Heart stay in sixth and Glory remain eighth.
Despite just hanging on, Perth interim coach Ian Ferguson will be happy to have snapped the run of outs that's derailed their season after a very promising start.
Ferguson adopted a youth policy and it almost paid dividends as Tommy Amphlett terrorised the Heart defence, almost scoring in the 12th minute.
Sterjovski also missed a couple of chances in the first half as the Heart never seriously threatened the Perth goal. But after the break, Melbourne stepped up the intensity as Nick Kalmar nodded narrowly wide, before the visitors mounted their late attack.
