Sydney FC's hunt for a new coach will begin immediately with the emphasis on bringing entertaining football to the harbour city after it was announced on Friday that coach Vitezslav Lavicka and the club had mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the season.

Vitezslav Lavicka became Sydney's fifth coach is as many seasons and possible it's lowest profile one after taking charge at the start of the 2009-10 season. After a series of high profile coaches fell out with the club an/or the players, Lavicka was drafted in and promised to get the culture right for the team predicted to be the league's powerhouse. Having spent seven years coaching at various levels in his native Czech Republic, he came to Australia having twice been voted Czech Coach of the Year. Lavicka attained immediate success, leading the club to a Premiership/Championship double in his first season and finally got the best out of a talented yet often dispirited playing group. Heading into the 2010-11 season Sydney FC must come to terms with the loss of former Socceroo John Aloisi, goalkeeper Clint Bolton and captain Simon Colosimo who all defected to new franchise Melbourne Heart. The introduction of talented young defender Scott Jamieson and Australian marquee player Nicky Carle, it is hoped, will offset the loss of three key members of last year's success.
