When Brisbane Roar and the club's temporary owners, FFA, announced that championship-winning coach Ange Postecoglou had signed a two-year extension, it seemed that the long-term prospects of the club were in good hands.

Brisbane Roar have named Ange Postecoglou's assistant Rado Vidosic as their new boss a day after the two-time A-League championship-winning coach quit the club.

Ange Postecoglou took over the role as Brisbane Roar coach under acrimonious circumstances in October 2009 after former Socceroos' coach Frank Farina was sacked following a drink-driving charge. Postecoglou formerly had coaching stints at South Melbourne, had seven years with Australia’s under-20 squad and led Greek club Panachaiki for one season in 2008. Upon his arrival in Brisbane, Postecoglou inherited a decent squad of players however, his managerial technique, reportedly, didn’t sit well with a number of veterans. That paired with the well documented off-field problems saw the Roar finish second last, the worst finish in the club’s A-League history.
