The Adelaide Thunderbirds have bundled out arch rivals Melbourne from the ANZ Championship finals series after they recorded a 53-48 victory in this year's Minor Semi-Final at ETSA Park on Monday night.
Kate Beveridge was the leading lady for the winners with 38 goals from 44 attempts and she was ably assisted by Natalie Medhurst who nailed 15 goals herself.
For the Vixens, Caitlin Thwaites and Sharelle McMahon were the scorers with 28 and 20 goals respectively.
The visitors got out to a flier to lead Adelaide 16-8 at quarter-time but the Thunderbirds reversed things in the second period to level things up 24-24 at the major break.
Melbourne outscored Adelaide in the third term to take a slender 38-36 lead into the final stanza but the Thunderbirds were too strong in the decisive quarter with a 17-10 effort to ensure the victory.
Adelaide now plays the Magic in the Preliminary Final next Monday night for the right to play the New South Wales Swifts in the Grand Final in a fortnight's time.
