Sastre leaves CSC

Tour de France champion Carlos Sastre has quit the CSC team to join Cervelo.

The 33-year-old has spent seven years with Danish outfit CSC but has opted to ride for the new Canadian team, which will compete from the start of next season.

"Everything in life has a beginning and an end, and for my future I want to find a new motivation to enjoy cycling," he said on his personal website, www.carlossastre.com.

"This is one of the most important reasons why I decided to join the Cervelo project."

Sastre, who is currently fifth in the Vuelta a Espana, insisted his move was not motivated by money.

He said: "It must be made clear that throughout my career, the financial aspect was always secondary."

"I decided on the Cervelo team because it is a new project that really fits with my way of life."

"It offers to cycling the opportunity to open new frontiers, and work together with our sponsors and their customers in a really effective way."
