Brisbane half-back Peter Wallace has gone against traditional rugby league convention by suggesting a home final won't give the Broncos a huge advantage.
The No.7 believes opposition teams lift as much as Brisbane when playing at the atmosphere-charged Suncorp Stadium, ensuring any gain from playing at home is diminished.
The Broncos will earn hosting duties in week one of the play-offs if they knock over Newcastle on Friday night and the Roosters fall to St George Illawarra.
"It's always awesome playing at Suncorp but teams lift as much playing up there as they do down here (in Sydney)," Wallace told Sportal.
"It's such an awesome ground to play at and there's usually a big crowds, so it's not hard to get pumped up."
"Other teams feed off that."
"Of course we'd rather play there but if we don't it won't worry us."
"You play away every second week so it doesn't really matter."
It's a view shared by veteran Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett.
"We're pretty comfortable if we're not at home. We just want to be playing well, injury free," he said.
"Getting there (to the finals) healthy, that's the number one priority."
"Anything else after that's a bonus. We'll have a pretty good idea where we're at Friday night one way or the other."
Bennett declared Melbourne looked its most vulnerable in years after succumbing to Newcastle by a point last weekend.
Wallace is also a believer, declaring: "They've been red-hot and it just shows every team in the comp is beatable."
"The top four – three of them lost the last two weeks – so I think every team is in with a shot this year."
"We've just got to get it right against Newcastle and roll on into the semis."
