Jedinak to return

Jedinak set to take on Victory

20/11/2008 9:55 PM

Star Central Coast Mariners midfielder Mile Jedinak is an almost certain starter for Friday night's A-League blockbuster against Melbourne at the Telstra Dome.

Jedinak was an unused substitute for the Socceroos as they scored a late winner to beat Bahrain 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday morning in Manama.

Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna was in contact with Jedinak shortly after the match in Bahrain and is confident his in-form midfielder will be fit to start.

"He got through training without any dramas and did not get on in the game so we're sure he'll be fine to start the game," McKinna said.

Jedinak is due to join the Mariners in Melbourne early on Friday.

"If he comes off the flight and is feeling OK we'll have an unchanged line-up from last week's win over Adelaide," McKinna said.

"It's great news. For big games like this you want your best players available. He's in great form and is very important for us. Mile was always very keen to play no matter what happened in Bahrain."

In case Jedinak is ruled out, McKinna has called Andre Gumprecht into the squad.

Central Coast's big win over Adelaide last week has the team in second spot and full of confidence heading into the showdown against the competition leaders.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Adrian Caceres will be out for the big game against his former club.

Caceres spent two years at Melbourne but left the club at the end of last season desperate for more game time.

"I'm very happy I made the move to the Mariners," Caceres said.

"I had two good years at Melbourne and still keep in contact with a lot of the boys but I wanted more game time and I'm getting that at the Mariners."
