Following Thompson's goal the Phoenix had a late chance to equalise when in the 89th minute Richard Johnson's strike from the penalty edge went high.

Adam Griffiths was shown a yellow card for a challenge on Daniel in the seventh minute. Felipe joined him in the 53rd minute for a foul on Paul Kohler, Dodd in the 85th minute for dissent and Jets' Adam D'Apuzzo for a foul a minute later.
