Bayern Munich fought back from two goals down to beat Wolfsburg 4-2 and climb seven places to fourth in the Bundesliga standings.
Grafite and Edin Dzeko looked to have put the Wolves on the way to victory with two goals in three minutes just after the half-hour mark.
But Franck Ribery pulled one back for the champions four minutes before half-time and Mark van Bommel restored parity nine minutes into the second half.
Substitute Tim Borowski then put the hosts ahead in the 63rd minute before Bastian Schweinsteiger made absolutely sure with fourth 10 minutes from time.
The win sees Jurgen Klinsmann's side move to within three points of leader Bayer Leverkusen, which temporarily claimed top spot with a 2-0 triumph over Cologne on Friday night.
Third-placed surprised package Hoffenheim takes on Martin Jol's second-spotted outfit Hamburg on Sunday in a match which will see the winners end the weekend at the summit.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Schalke could only manage a goalless draw at home to 10-man Arminia Bielefeld but nevertheless move up to fifth.
Arminia had Jonas Kamper sent off in the 60th minute.
Borussia Monchengladbach lifted itself off the foot of the table with a 1-0 win over Karlsruhe, secured by a Patrick Paauwe goal six minutes into the second half.
Gladbach is replaced at the bottom by Energie Cottbus, which surrendered a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
An early brace from Dimitar Rangelov looked to have set the hosts on course for three points, but goals from Michael Fink, Martin Fenin and Nikos Liberopoulos turned the match on its head.
Finally, Hannover and Werder Bremen battled out a 1-1 draw. Christian Schulz opened the scoring for the home team in the ninth minute only for Hugo Almeida to level matters four minutes before half-time.
