Justice Albie Sachs will hear the appeal against Gautam Gambhir's one-Test ban, the ICC has announced.
India opener Gambhir was found guilty of playing contrary to the spirit of the game in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar series and was banned for one Test by match referee Chris Broad.
Gambhir stuck an elbow in the chest of Australia all-rounder Shane Watson while taking a second run en route to his double century in the first innings.
Under the provisions of the ICC code of conduct, Justice Sachs has the power to increase, decrease, amend or otherwise substitute his own decision from that made at the previous hearing. His decision is final and binding.
Watson was charged with a level 1 offence under the ICC code of conduct and was found guilty at a hearing on Thursday. He was fined 10 percent of his match fee.
