The Redbacks are hopeful they'll regain Shaun Tait but are concerned about Mark Cleary's fitness ahead of their Ford Ranger Cup game against the Warriors on Sunday.
Tait missed South Australia's drawn Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield match with Western Australia this week because of hamstring tightness but has made himself available for the Twenty20 exhibition clash in Brisbane on Friday.
Redbacks captain Graham Manou said Tait's break was precautionary but was optimistic the dangerous quick would play for him this weekend.
"He pulled up pretty sore and it was a management of that injury. He was already named in that (Twenty20) side beforehand anyway. Hopefully he gets through that unscathed and is back by Sunday night raring to go for us again," Manou said.
"We'll certainly need him with Cleary under an injury cloud.
"I'd be pretty disappointed if he wasn't available."
Cleary strained a quad muscle and will be assessed over the coming days. He managed to bowl just seven overs during the Warriors' second innings on Thursday.
Manou said it'd be a big loss for the side if the 28-year-old wasn't available for Ford Ranger Cup duties.
"For me he's a three-pronged player," Manou said.
"His bowling over the last few years in the one day game has been outstanding. When he's going his batting his very, very handy for us down the lower order and towards the end of the game he is someone that can clear the boundary."
"And obviously the way he moves around the field too, he's a bit of an athlete and I think moving forward ... hopefully South Australian one-day sides are going to become more athletic and that's the sort of guys we need."
Meanwhile Manou said the Redbacks were pleased to secure their first Shield points this week but added it was disappointing the team couldn't get closer to an outright victory after reducing Western Australia to 3-22 on the morning of the final day.
He said Luke Pomersbach's explosive century showed that the left-hander will be the danger man on Sunday.
"Obviously the way Pomersbach batted, he basically took any glimpse away from us from that early start and probably set us back more so I guess from an enthusiasm point of view really," Manou said.
"Even though people are making a big song and dance about how (Luke) Ronchi has been batting this year, in that form I think they are going to be two vital wickets for us."
"It's going to come down to how well we can bat and whether guys, when they are batting, are firmly entrenched in the game rather than having one eye on other things."
