Rain steers Test towards draw

Rain steers Test towards draw

27/10/2008 7:31 PM

Play was washed out for the third consecutive day of the second and final Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Mirpur on Monday.

Although the rain finally relented on day three, a sodden outfield meant no play was possible and umpires Asoka de Silva and Daryl Harper finally gave up hope at around 2pm local time.

The abandonment meant not a single ball had been bowled by in the first three days of the Test at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

The downpour increases the likelihodd the Test will be a draw, leaving New Zealand as the 1-0 series victor after a tense three-wicket win in the first Test in Chittagong.
