CA quiet on tri-series

Cricket Australia has distanced itself from reports suggesting Australia will be involved in a Twenty20 'super series' with India and South Africa.
A Cricinfo report, citing quotes from Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola, had suggested Australia, South Africa and powerhouse India would play a tri-nations Twenty20 tournament next year.
The stumbling block, the report said, was finding a window in what is already a crowded 2009 playing schedule for the three nations.
However, CA was tight-lipped when asked about the issue on Friday.
"We've got nothing which we're in a position to announce or talk about at the moment," a CA spokesperson said.
It's understood CA has asked a management consultant company to draw up a business model on the merits and drawbacks of any tri-nations tournament.
But CA was loath to comment further on the issue so as not to 'create expectations around any particular option' in case plans fell through.
The evolution of Twenty20 cricket will take a giant step forward this December with the start of an eight-team Champions League tournament featuring the best domestic sides from India, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan.
Victoria and Western Australia will be Australia's representatives after both qualified for the final of the domestic competition last summer.
