The first instalment well and truly delivered on the hype. Now the question is, will the second continue carrying the torch?
WEEKEND HUSSLER v LIGHT FANTASTIC
MAKYBE DIVA STAKES
Head to Head market
Will they run the quinella?
Saturday, 6 September 2008 | 4.05pm |Flemington
It’s officially spring, punters, and what more could you ask for in the first feature meeting of the season? Light Fantastic won the battle first-up and looks to make it six wins from six lifetime starts , but Weekend Hussler may have been underdone at Caulfield, and has gone on to do the job since. Whatever your selection, you can be sure that with the best prices, choice of backing and laying, and tote betting available, the only place to bet on Makybe Diva Stakes day, and throughout the spring, is Betfair.
THE FLEMINGTON CARD
The feature race aside, Victorian racing HQ hosts a further four black type events tomorrow:
• HKJC Plate (1400m, Listed, 2pm) – Largo Lad, Playwright, Stavka
• Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m, Grp III, 2.40pm) – Devil Moon, Mimi Lebrock, Princess Gisella
• Danehill Stakes (1200m, Grp III, 3.20pm) – Augusta Proud, Exceedingly Good, Time Thief, Aichi (plus an Augusta Proud v Exceedingly Good Head to Head market)

RACING RETURNS TO ROYAL RANDWICK
Benedict’s been and gone, so Randwick’s true religion is back this Saturday with the running of the Chelmsford Stakes. The field is thin in numbers but certainly not in quality, as Triple Honour returns to the scene of his Doncaster victory, with Gallant Tess and Kishkat expected to provide the greatest resistance. Randwick’s card is another beauty, with another three stakes events to accompany the Chelmsford:
• Tramway Handicap (1400m, Grp III, 1.40pm) – Bank Robber, Xavier, Gotta Have Heart
• Furious Stakes (1400m, Grp II, 3.40pm) – Samantha Miss, Love and Kisses, Portillo, Glowlamp
• Ming Dynasty Quality Hcp (1400m, LR, 4.25pm) – Caymans, Dreamscape, Whitefriars
