Australia's men's water polo team has finished its Olympic campaign, losing 9-8 to Greece in its final classification game.

The Sharks trailed by a lone goal at half-time, but outscored their opponents 3-1 during the third term to take a 7-6 advantage into the final break.

However, the Greek team hit back to go on and record a narrow victory that sees them finish in seventh place, with the Australians eighth.

Pietro Figlioli continued his excellent Olympic campaign with another three goals for Australia, while Richie Campbell and Anthony Martin scored two goals apiece.

Australia's men's team won three matches in total during the tournament, offset by three narrow losses and one tie.
